Apartment Review for Mizner Court At Broken Sound - Boca Raton, FL

I loved it when I first moved in here- the grounds were well kept, there was a nice mix of the elderly, families, young professionals and students. But the place has gone downhill in the past year. I've had problems with ants, spiders and now rats (which run around in the walls in the middle of the night). The landscaping has gone downhill as well. The construction isn't great, which I guess is to be expected since the buildings are old. I've got water stains on my roof where my neighbours kicthen pipes are (all stuff that has bled through the paint over time). There are spots where there are gaps between the floor and bottom of the wall and it looks like they were sealed up with paper and then painted. The walls are THIN so you will hear everything your neighbours are doing (and I mean EVERYTHING...day to day living and things you don't want to hear). There is plenty of parking but for some reason people don't seem to feel they need to park in front of their own buildings. I've gotten so sick of coming home with a carload of stuff and having to park across the complex because strangers are taking up all the spots in front of my building. They really need assigned parking. You pay to be in a gated/controlled access community, yet the gate rarely works. Its been open since they laid off the person who manned the gatehous over a year ago. When the gate is working, the call box doesn't scroll through tenant names properly and guests can't get in. The rent for newcomers has been lowered to the point where it appears that A LOT of college students are moving in. If you want to listen to the constant traffic in and out of their apartments, deal with squealing tires, speeding cars, and loud stereos this might be the place for you. If you can deal with the smell of pot wafting into your home, you might not mind Mizner. Its not all negative though, I've never received anything but the best of treatment from the management staff. If I've had any maintenance issues they have always been very quick to respond (within 30 minutes). I've never had any issues with safety either. The place is well lit and I haven't really heard of (or experienced) any crime. Security does drive through on a regular basis and there are a few cops living in the community. I wouldn't leave things sitting out in my car in plain view, but I wouldn't do that anywhere. The neighbourhood is great as well. Its not a high traffic part of town, you are close to publix, I-95 etc. There is a pizza place, chinese place and dry cleaner around the corner. Unfortunately at this point, I wouldn't recommend this place. A year or two ago I would have without a doubt.
